Helping a friend with his MF 150. Multi-power went out couple weeks ago and bypassed oil in to the clutch Housing. Fixed Had the Multi-power rebuilt and thought we could get away with not replacing the clutch plates that were soaked in oil.

First time out the 1st stage clutch worked fine, but the second stage slipped.

Replace the two stage clutch, throw out bearing and adjusted to Shop Manual Specs - 1" clearance on Clutch Arms, .090 Clearance on second stage clutch.

Tractor went back together fine, drive clutch works fine, but can not engage the PTO with out grinding the gears.

Acts Like the second stage clutch is not releasing.

Needing Help in KY

This may be obvious but the MF150 has two holes in the linkage connecting the clutch pedal to the clutch release shaft. With the pin in one of the two possible positions, the rest position of the clutch pedal is lower and more comfortable to use but there is insufficient travel to release the second stage clutch. In the other position, the pedeal position is higher but both stages of the clutch work.

We did adjust the Clutch Pedal to allow for the 1/8 " free play, but did not check to see if moving the pin to the second hole would allow for additional travel. I'll check that this evening.....but I'm leaning toward an adjustment issue or we rec'd defected pressure plate since this was not a problem prior to the Multi Power leak.
