All Done, waiting for rain

All the crops are in for the year. I also got the grass seeded around
my shop area and the lawn fertilized. It is dry here in Eastern Iowa
and we could use a couple of nice soaking days.

I got my pressure washer fixed today. It was a five year old
northern unit that had a lot of issues with the burner. It would not
light, then light and smoke bad. That cost me $700, so it had better
clean up stuff real well now.

Just the opposite here. Got some canola in. Need to get 45 acres of soys in and 18 acres of corn but it won't let up long enough to dry up and plant

Bite your tong on using that dirty R word . You were not wading thru mud and slop almost knee deep yesterday fixen fence in the pasture . Last time i was in mud that deep was in the rice paddy's in Nam .

Your sick Dave. All I have is mud and rain all next week. I"ed like to sell you some rain - cheep. I am also having a sale on rocks - also cheep. Do you want to sell some dry Iowa dirt? Ed

Bite your tongue! We've got excess subsoil moisture, and we're just now coming into the rainy season, late May and June.

Got two differnt plots done yesterday. Have 19 more to do, (about 60 acres) and can't start for mud. Looks like no corn, and lots of beans and sorgham,

We had a real wet cold early spring, but the last month has been mostly dry. I think we are in a little pocket of dry here. All around us has been really wet.

Better be careful what you wish for. In the last 2 days I have gotten 3 inches of rain and they are calling for a good bit more in the next 5-7 days. About to the point I might need to tie a boat to the front porch just to be sure I can get some place

I cant even get the garden planted where I'm at! Disked it a week ago; Was getting ready to start planting early Saturday afernoon a week ago, & before I got started a short lived monsoon hit! Followed by rain for several days. Went out this morning, & pulled a weed that took root again, & out it came with a big mud ball attachted to it. Supposed to start raining again by evening Saturday (today), & go on for several days. Guess I'd better plant rice instead!

SIL works for a big local farmer(10,000 acres) and they have it all in. Corn and beans. First of the corn around here is 2" high or better and looking good. We were supposed to get rain last night, but I don't think it amounted to much. Could use an inch or so.

We're sending you some rain from NW Iowa this morning (sat). It's probably already arrived. 1.75" since yesterday (fri) morning.

Got the beans in during a 2 1/2 day planting frenzy. Son put in 18 hour days hauling feed and then running the field cultivator, I put in 14 and 15 hour days planting. After planting was done he crawled back in the truck and hauled five loads, came home and mowed lawn. I laid around all day yesterday with my body feeling sorry for itself. Ah to be young again!! Jim
