got my land disced up moved over to the rented land things went pretty smooth with the old girl but she is using more oil and lots of blowby hopefully she will hang in ther until i get some seed in the ground cross my fingers

well thats a perfect example how good an engine is after unseizing without dissassembly. as i always say they will run but there is nothing there.needs an o/h, rings dont seat well against rusty cyl. and could be seized in piston. in other words your pumping the oil out.

we run 30 weight in our I H's only . My 806 has real close to 10000 hrs on her and three four years ago was the first time the valve cove was off her to adjust the valves . we run I H's No. 1 engine oil in the diesels and the low ash in the gassers.

if its not running too hot , cover the rad up some and make it pull for all its worth to try and get them rings loose. keep close eye on temp.best to change oil and maybe throw in a quart of mystery oil, or that valvoline stuff.
give her a couple cans of compression also! good luck and dont blow her up.

How much oil is it using? Does it start and run okay?

When they were brand spankin' new, they'd use 1 1/2 to 2 quarts a day if ya worked the livin' snot out of 'em.

They are supposed to have blow-by; it is how those engines breathe.

i checked the oil this morning added a gallon worked it about 4 hours full rpm not really a heavy pull then checked it added 2 gallons the blowby smoke is blue the axle is covered in oil it takes either to start it even when the motor is still warm did not have much time to really look into things in detail i have to get the crop in it might hang in there then i can check it out further the tractor is not worth that much up here

well that pretty much tells you she is o/h time. its not going to fix it self. blow by should be very minimal. thats is your compression leaking past the rings into crankcase and out. thats why she will not start, compression is low.
