morton bulidings

I posted a message and I appreciate alot of the replys but I know Morton is well worth the cost and a good reputation and shed but I mainly want to know has anybody ever talked them down on price or are they very firm on there price that is?

I shopped all of the local builders before building my new building nearly two years ago.

All except Morton would negotiate at least some but Morton would not.

I had decided upon a Morton building but was turned off by their take-it-or-leave-it attitude so I left it.

i would have cash in hand if you know what their prices are, then when you talk to them and they won't budge on price, show the amount you have to spend and then say sorry, i don't have enough, i guess i have go to your competitor and shop, see what they do or say. times are tough today. let see if they still have the "take or leave it" now.

Morton will not budge on the price of the mainline buildings. If you want cheaper go with their Country Craft line. They build the best pole type building I have ever seen. They last too. Why should they dicker with you when they bring good quality and value to the table???

If you are one of those guys that just have to get a "break" on everything then just get a local bid from someone else. That way you will not waste your time. And DON"T try the "this is all I have game" either. Will not work.

I have two Morton buildings. I am getting a third this summer. They build them well, fast and on schedule. What is a little more money spread over the life of a building. I have one Lester building. I "saved" three thousand dollars on it up front. I have had to replace the metal already and the doors where not right from day one. I hope lighting will hit it every year. So far no luck. LOL

Get quotes from other places, like Cleary or a general contractor (builder)
The best ammo you can have is other quotes.

Search the web for other pole shed builders.

You're dealing with a contractor, not Morton, right? The contractor can't negotiate with Morton on the price of the building, so any break he gives you on price comes out of his markup, which probably isn't great to start with.

Morton is an OK building from a company that's been around a long time and has lots of marketing. But it is laughable to think that it is superior to other buildings of similar construction. There are plenty of companies making buildings as good as or better than Morton.

My recommendation is you go with a CONTRACTOR you trust and whose work you've seen. A good contractor is going to put up a good building from a reputable company.

I have a neighbor that has a Morton building. He has had it for 10 years, no issues, but they do warranty their work & matierals. Good luck with joe blow, low bid guy, on that. I do think that the Morton buildings I've seen are the best pole buildings I've seen. By quite a bit, I really don't think anybody else is close. However, bring $$$.

I put up a Morton building 10 years ago. Worst decision I ever made. Lots of quality issues because of the totally in- experienced building crew. Lots of other companies out there with a high quality product. Any one of them will be better than Morton.

As I mentioned before, dealing with the Morton sales guy (not the contractor) I got them to upgrade to screws instead of nails, about a $600 option, so they have a little bit of room....

My Dad and Grandpa both got a couple free upgrades with their Morton buildings also. Grandpa got the particle board around the bottom to protect the tin, and some windows thrown in. Dad got some windows added for no cost plus an additional entry door. No discounts on price, but did get a little extra out of them.

I priced a Morton machine shed two years ago. When I mentioned it to a local carpenter, He said "I'll put up the same shed, only better, for the same price." And he did. Heavier tin, screws, better windows and doors. I love the shed.
It pays to shop around.

I have not ever seen anything in a Morton building that is any better than others.

FIL put up a shed couple of years ago Morton was 25 percent higher. At the time they must have been looking for work cause they gave a 7 percent discount off the original price a month later.

If screws are an "upgrade" for Morton, how can they claim to build a quality building?

If you want a QUALITY building, find a Chief dealer. Mo' betta than Morton by a long shot.
