1206 IHC out of retirement

had the 1206 towed to my shop this winter. it was the nabours his motor was siezed it had sat for 12 years i got the motor running within 4 hours and fixed a few other things for him then i parked it outside for the rest of the winter. I dont really like the tractor it is old and kind of falling apart but my masseys back end blew up and i had to start working in the field so i fired up the 1206 and disced about 50 acres today i have another 150 acres to go cross my fingers hope it hangs in there for me
 

The 1206 was a good solid old horse in it's day. Can't say it was indestructible but darned near close to it. Were your ears ringing at the end of the day? Jim
 
well i kept on thinking about getting ear protection every time i went past the shop but i kept on saying one more round one more round but tomorrow i will be using ear protection
 
When I was about 19 or 20 I ran a neighbor's brand new cabless 1256 for about a week. Boy was I proud! But the ears were ringing every night. Then he put a cab on it. My ears were REALLY ringing after a day in that thing. But it could really pull and was as reliable as the day was long. Jim
 
i can say this sort of has a cab i think alot of bolt are missing because when i hit some rough spots the front of the cab gets air born i should look tomorrow to see if i can bolt it down better
 
Back in 1970 I ran one of those for a local farmer doing fall plowing for a couple months. He also had an 806. NO comparison! No cabs on either. The turbo 1206 was so much quieter and smoother than the 806. Pulled 5/16,s anywhere we plowed without effort. That was a BIG tractor back then and one of the first factory turbo,s. I say keep it.
 
i found ear protection today no more ringing you may think im crazy or just havent done enough of it but i love running this old junk i have fairly new constion equip with cabs and air but this is different for some reason i must be nuts
