Winter wheat spraying

I'm in Michigan and I have seen where folks are spraying wheat fields. What are they spraying for? Is it bugs, weeds, or something else?

Way late, but around 'here', it would be for wild onions/wild garlic. BIG dock at the elevator for seeds in wheat........

I wondered about that onion thing. It seems to me with the advent of RR crops that the onion seem to be taking over where the ground is heavy. What are they spraying? I could never effectively get that onion killed, bent maybe but not eliminated.

was told by my chemical guy the other day that roundup is not at all effective in killing wild garlic/onions

you have to spray them in march or april with a broadleaf herbicide.
