REALLY GOT TO BE CAREFULL HERE ON POSTING!! I HAVE A NEW 1500 (1/2 TON) CHEVROLET. What length RV trailer (bumper pull) can I pull?? Do any of you folks know of good dealers in the midwest where I could get best price on same?? I am not against buying from a private individual, just don't know where to look and possibly a dealer would buy my older 8 foot slide in with toilet and holding tank. Far be it from me to advertize I am just seeking info and what everbody else is staying in.

Only thing for sure is that you'll get negative dollars for your old camper. Dealer give you a few hundred for it on trade, but your deal on the rig you're buying will be a few more hundred higher. He'll want to end up with at least 200 to the good, for cost of disposal.

Sell your old one for a few hundred on Craiglist, then make a much better cash deal on your purchase. It'll need to be pretty small, without at least a 3/4 ton. Towing capacities will be on the doorpost of the truck. Weight transfer hitch (Reece or E-Z-Lift) is a must.

funny thing: my cousin lives in springdale AR, she just e-mailed me about selling her flagstaff travel-trailer. 2008,//// i sure yt didn't mind your posts, it just when we post in wrong sections, and/or want ot advtz the whole farm....i guess it all or none abide by the rules..... check with owners manual to see weight limit on pulling trailer.

pull this with my 3/4 ton 2500 dodge cummins diesel. it's called home away.

Bill, Hope your better half didn't tell you to hit the road. Neighbor just paid $1000 for a nice 18ft trailer which he pulls with a 1500. I would check craigslist first and sell your slide in at the same place. With gas prices the way they are, it's a buyer's market for RV's.

I hope you got a 4.10 rear axle. My 2005 GMC Sierra has an 8700 lb capacity with that axle, 5.2L engine. I was planning on hauling tractors, but have not done that yet, so I can't really comment on its performance. Your problem is not necessarily going to be weight, but wind resistance. Although the recent models have more power and claim to tow a heavier load, a RV trailer of much size is a little big for a half ton. If you have an automatic transmission without the factory temp gauge, put one on it. The transmission is the weak point, followed by the non-floating rear axle. Just because you are able to pull it does not mean it is good for the pickup. As stated an equalizer hitch is mandatory.

My son pulls a 21" (I think) with his Dakota 4wd. H added a tranny cooler and weight equilizer hitch. They took it to Colorado last year from Iowa. I guess it pulled it okay.

Home away from Home.I don't have a picture of the two together, maybe I should do that as they will be together in a week, going to Colorado for a visit. Grand Daughter graduates from Grade School to High School.Regardless this is what we stay in when going to events away from home.JH

Nope the 8 foot slide in is not big enough for us to spend a lot of time in Ill at harvest

Two posters referred to Springdale, and Hope.
But I thought those towns were in Arkansas (AR), not AK (Alaska).

We have a 27ft fifth wheel camper we bought in January, this year. It was on eBay, paid $4200 in New Jersey. We tow it with a 1500 GMC. I checked all the weight stuff, and it is within specifications.

There are some nice trailers on Crags List just use your head and stay away from the scammers. Last week I found a good deal on a 2010 trailer, and when I answered the ad he dropped the price to $2900.00, 23 ft. 20010 for $2900.00. nothing good will come from that ad. Check the weights on the drivers door sticker.

Hello; We use our coach, cause I can't pull a 5th wheel and a BIG trailer! With 22.5 tires, and a Frightliner Chassis, air brakes, and air ride, it makes tractor show camping smooth. Bobmn
