Old, 292 head

Not yet I haven't but I have not call around to all the salvage yards yet. I need to wait till at least Monday till I can ask enough questions as to why my heads can not be fixed then go from there. The big problem is shipping one that far the cost of shipping would be $50 plus

Yes a Chev 292 straight 6. I am building it for my son who is in the Navy for his 1951 Chev pick up. Have the block which has been bored 60 over high compression pistons 208/214 cam basically being built as a street performance truck. I do not know where you are but I am in Missouri the lake of the Ozarks area

Old, i used to race those engines in oval track cars. Look for a 194 head since you are shopping- smaller combustion chambers for more compression. Also, since you're running the cam, use screw in rocker studs ( the V8 stuff works) or at least pin sthe stock studs.

We used to run the 250s with a 350 V8 piston which gave us a buck and a quarter overbore. With the late model GM truck crank (which had no counterweights and was lighter) we would spin those inlines to over 7,000 rpm at the flagstand

Ya the machine shop if I find a rebuildable head has been told to either pin or do the stud type rocker arm bolts BTDT and found out the hard way on a 250 I build years ago. Still have that engine but do not want to pull the head off of it. As for the 194 head that might get the compression up way to high to be about to run the cheaper gas in it which would not be good

I am 50 mi SE of St Louis in IL. I'll be traveling by car down I-44 St. Louis to Springfield, MO June 4 and return June 6. Also I'll travel to Wichita across MO on I-70 around July 4 with truck and camper. Are you very far from either interstate? Maybe we could meet.

Well I live at the Lake of the Ozarks area so I am about 25 miles north of I44 by either the Richland exit or the Lebanon exit. I live 7 miles south of Camdenton just off hwy 5 so yes you get pretty close to me. My e-mail is always open so may you can e-mail me and see if we can work something out
