Has anyone used vacuum bags to freeze vegetables? If so what brand of vacuum system is best and do you think it is worthwhile?

We use them all the time for freezing. They work best if you lay the veggies flat on a cookie sheet and fast freeze before packaging. Same with fish.

I freeze alot of stuff with zip lock freezer bags. To get the air out I just zip them almost closed, stick a straw in, suck a vacuum, and seal as I slide the straw out. Done this for years with no problem.
We use Seal-A Meal vacuum system and their bags
when freezing veggies. My wife says it's made by Sunbeam. Off brand bags don't seal. We've did sweet corn and it taste's like you just picked the corn. I have SilverQueen and Sugarbaby planted this year. Hal

They are the best! I get my bags from this place [email protected] They are as good or better than any of major store brands and much cheaper. Good people to work with.

I realize that the thread is about freezing vegtables, and using vaccum bags, however last year I had a pleasing experience with berries. I bought 2 flats of red raspberries, with the intention, of making them into jam. I didn"t want to start in on the jam making at the time, so I sit the 2 flats in the chest freezer, and totally forgot about them. We have a side by side fridge- freezer, in the house, and seldom go out to the storage shed where the old chest freezer is. last week we needed a chicken from the freezer, and I found the berries, when I opened the freezer. They looked good, so I popped a couple in my mouth, and found them to be like they had only been there overnight. The wife and I are munching on them now, and have consumed most of one flat.
