My New 1999 Ford F-250 Superduty 4X4 V-10 5 Speed (PICS)

Finally found a truck to haul my tractors around! It's a 1999 Ford F-250 V-10 5 Speed 4x4. It has 155,000 miles on it. It is missing the bed as the previous owner had a utility box on it. I will either go and find a box for it or get a flat bed. Either way I will set it up to pull a gooseneck trailer for the one I just purchased.

Payed $3250 for it, and I am happy with the price as it booked for $5500. It was cheap enough for me!
There is no rust, the paint is great and they just put under-coating on it.

Found it on craigslist and went to look at it this afternoon and made a deal.

What do you all think?

Thanks for reading!

I think you lost some tread on the way home! With no weight on the back like that, and the V10.... I also think you'll like that V10. Good power, and not bad mileage for the power available. Mine is a '01 F350 extended cab long box with the V10, 5-speed and 3.73's. 198xxx and going strong.

Nice truck, that will get the hauling duties done nicely.

As far a bed or box, my opinion would be get a normal pick up box if you can get one cheaply, I find flat bed look "nicer" on dually trucks than singles.

Beatless 65 that is a sharp looking 99 . I wish I could of found a red one when I bought my 99 . I just love the truck.I have a question for you and if you do not want to answer it I understand. What do you do for a living.Do you work for Exxon mobile or a young lawyer or what. In your picture you do not appear to be middle age. I have watched for the last maybe year Buy every thing under the sun and nickel and dime you way to some serious cash and build a new big steel building at the same time. What is your secret most people have some trouble getting buy. I my self have worked hard my hole life and am debt free. Before I bought the Hardware store I had a 6 figure job and could not buy treasure like you week after week.

As you already know, ranchers are always yanking the boxes off and replacing with a flat bed.

Any Ford garage will usually have a stack of those boxes out behind thier shop. :>)

I wish I had unlimited funds like you seem to. I mean really it seems like its all about the bragging. Its getting a little old.

I bought a 2001 F350 4x4, crew cab long box with a power tailgate last year for 1300$, but it has some rust, needed brakes, and is only 5.4L.

They make great tow rigs!

I wish truck manufacturers had been required to post all mileage listings back in '99 I'm curious as to what the v10 would be rated for.

Even if it were down low like 10mpg for most people it would still be fine vs the diesel since most people don't haul all that far.

I sure wish I had justification to have a truck like that but its so much more truck than I'll ever need...

Shouldn't a 99 be a 6 speed? I'd guess 10-12 empty. Go with a box, I've always thought single rears with a flatbed just look goofy.

Gassers were all 5-speed manual in that era of truck.

The 6-speed manual was in the powerstroke diesel only in that era.

I think it was 05 or 06 that the gassers got a 6-speed manual box as well.

Gasser manual isn't common regardless of gears....

It REALLY depends on the options and how it's driven. Mine has the manual, 3.73's, and manual locking hubs... better for mileage than the auto, 4.10's, and auto locking hubs. Short trips, sometimes loaded, sometimes empty, sometimes pulling a small trailer, I average about 12 m.p.g. On a 6-hour (each way, small load both ways) trip, I got 15.7 m.p.g., running 70+ with the a/c on.

My guess is that he had some crops to sell at some high prices and is enjoying spending it! Farmers are spending money like they won the lottery. More new trucks and tractors and planters and combines around the corn belt than you would imagine. I won't worry about old #65 until he posts a pic of a new $55,000 truck. Have fun, but put some away for a rainy day, too!
