cleaning evaporator core

What is the best way to clean the evaporator core on 886 IH. It is the tpo of my cab so I can"t put water on it. Will com air clean it out. It didn"t look to bad.

Air will work fine, I maintain 2 street sweepers with same type design and I blow out the coils reguarly. You won't believe how much difference there will be. Good Luck Mike

The AC on my 886 will only get down to 60 deg. I have cleaned the condenser core, and did put some gas in it last fall. I put a gauge on it and at 1800 rpm the gauge show low of gas. But at a 1000 rpm the gauge shows about 35lbs. The dryer reciver will get hot and it should get cold, but low side line will get cool. The compressor has been change to 134. I would think it would get colder than 60deg. Has some checked the air comming out of the vents and what temp is it? I just get the tractor last fall so didn"t have time to use the AC.

Why can't ya put water up there?

Yank the roof panel, open the doors and give 'er and derned good bath with a garden hose upstairs and downstairs.

It's gonna be caked with mud from all the years of farmin'.

Allen, I didn't want to get the inside of my cab wet. But guess the drain hole should take the water.I need to check the drain tubes, to see if they are clogged. Thank's for the help.

If the drain tubes are clogged (very slight chance) it would be "raining" in your cab with the AC on.

If you're worried about a cloth seat or cloth upholstery, just throw a garbage sack over it.

There's nothing else in there that can be damaged by water. A good bath is good for 'em every once in awhile.

Sounds like either a stuck check valve in the compressor or maybe a partially clogged orface tube. Definitely take the hose to it up top. No telling how much crud is in there if it hasnt been cleaned..

Rooster in TN,
By what you describe, I would get the "expansion valve"replaced. That valve expands the freon into a fine mist or gas form as it goes into the evaporator. The freon absorbs the heat from the cab and takes it to the condensor and cools the freon for its return trip. My first jump on fixing the unit, like I mentioned, check the expansion valve. Some may disagree with me,BTDT. HTH

If the expansiion valve is bad, why is he seeing 35lbs on the low side?

That system is screaming for some more freon.

60 degrees is pretty good for a system converted to 134. And I'm sure it will always be "leaking" a little. As to cleaning, find a BG dealer (auto chemic al) and get a can of fridge clean. Does a wonderful job. Spray in the evap and it foams it clean.

The receiver dryer on an expansion valve system will be hot.
