OT: 05 Stratus Cruise/Check Engine Problem

I don't know the car, I'm just asking for my son. His friend has an 05 Dodge Stratus with a 3.0 V6. Seems the cruise control is inop, and it triggered a "check Engine" light [more likely a "malfunction indicator light"]. Problem has happened before, and the friend who owns the car was told it has something to do with a cruise/brake fuse.

Anyone have any experience with the system in question? Any suggestions? I've not seen the car, and I don't have a scanner or OBD-II tester anyway. I'm just going on what my son has told me, since he asked me to see if anyone had any advice. Thanks for any help.

The MIL light comes on for an EMISSIONS failure.

I DOUBT the cruise is the root cause, more likely the 'puter is seeing an emissions parameter out of whack and (for some reason) disabling the cruise.

You need to beg, borrow or steal an OBDII reader and ASK it what's bothering it.
