sattelite radio

Short answer no. You have to have either a regular radio set to a predetermined station that will receive the signal from the satellite radio or you can buy a type of boom box that you can connect to the X band radio.

You will need a working radio for satellite radio. You can get a new radio with satellite built in or get a receiver to broadcast it on a blank station. I have the receiver type. I like that because I can take it from vehicle to vehicle or tractors, and not pay all the subscriptions.

There are a few models of portable satellite radios available, some with MP# players built in, that work without a car radio.

There's also an iPhone app that allows you to receive Sirius/XM radio over an iPhone.

If you're asking about the satellite head unit you currently own, no, it won't work without the car radio.
