Weather Award of the Year

Finally dry enough to spray some 28% and 2-4-D on the wheat today in northeast Wisconsin. Had plenty of time to do it with nothing in the forecast before mid to late evening. Even had time to wash the tractor in the pouring rain as I pulled out of the last field a little after noon.

Yeah, I know, at least I'm not in the mid south with all of their problems and to be thankful for little favors. And I can always give it a second try when it gets nice again. Still, for an academy award for shear misinformation/misleading weather information in a small market I nominate the weather people in Green Bay just for the hail of it!

How are they doing where you live?

They are right on the money: not a drop in sight. Corns thigh high under heavy irrigation here in North Florida. Sweet corn is getting close to harvest in South Florida, already seeing watermelons heading north on I-75.

Speaking of hail, we had a pile of it Monday early early AM. At least nothing to hurt this time of year, was small pebbles, heck been so cold & wet not too much planted yet. The news gal was saying, a week ago today there was a little snow coming down, if we forgot. Tomorrow might be in the 80's for the first time; but that means we are in the red zone of thunderstorms brewing.....

Can't complain, south & south east US has it a lot worse, but man it's been a winter & early spring so far in Minnesota....

Planted corn last tue while it was snowing today it was over 90 degrees. We have had a chance of rain for almost a week but it goes either north or south. Corn and beans are planted so it is fine with me if the rain starts. We are in southwest WI.
