My new John Deere Model H Series 47 Manure Spreader (PICS)

Here is my new John Deere Model H Series 47 Manure spreader that I had delivered today. It looks like a very good unit. The seller used it until he sold off all his cattle. He was also able to deliver it for me for $10 as he was only 12 miles away. A nice addition to my collection.

That one looks good enough to just hitch up and use. I spent a few days loading one of those with a 5 tine. It was my uncles.

In my younger days I pitched WAY more "organic material" into it's twin brother than I can to think about. Perhaps it's part of the reason I quit early today 'cause the feet, ankles, and knees have HAD IT!

I use one for my garden. It will throw a full buggy load in 400 feet if set at the max rate.

I have the same model... We lost the chain on the left side..local John Deere dealer can't seem to find one or make one. Was the left side chain square link or triangular like the right side is?

the drive chain on the left side from bottom beater to rear "auger" is a 5 foot section of #55 standard detatchable steel chain. Just replaced mine.

Ernie the JD dealer needs to hire an older parts person. Link chain is available at many "true farm stores" besides JD

The way it looks in the parts catalog, #55 malleable chain OR #55 detachable steel chain could be used interchangeably.

Current DEERE part # for #55 steel chain is AH62697. It has to be ordered in 10 foot rolls at a retail of just under $40.00.

You actually need 37 links, a 10-foot roll will get you about 74 links.
