| | Dinner was nothin' special -- macaroni, peas, some cheese, smidge of Italian bread crumbs thrown in a frying pan. Call it cheap, nostalgic meal, I just about lived on that and meatless grinders back in college. HOWEVER, now I'm about to peel up some apples from my local orchard and make a crisp for desert. After I cut some wood this afternoon I made a trip to the supermarket for some Ben & Jerry's ice cream to go with it. ======= BTW...had a chuckle that the orchard now sells windfalls as "Deer Apples". $10 for 2 60# bags. I have a use for such things, but I think the such a use is highly frowned upon by the folks with badges and dark green uniforms. |

| Just gettin' around to that detail here. As usual, I'm in charge of the dead critter, Miss Karee will be seein' to the healthy stuff. Not that I mind taters and string beans, but grilling is a mystery to the distaff side of the household. |

| | Yum! I make a point of never complainin' about bein' on the meat detail. If I left it to my dearie, it'd be a cinder, just the way she likes it. My own, I tend to just dangle it over the flames untilit stops quiverin' and call it good. Lord, if I prepare the whole meal, as usually happens when we're puttin' on a big meal with company, it's best everybody clears the deck. The veggies WILL be ready for the serving bowl within a minute of me finishin' whippin' the potatoes, and the meat will be sliced to order once we sit down. It works best if everybody stays out of the way. Otherwise, I'll tell 'em a story while they're eatin' and they don't get dessert. |

| | Works about the same here. Mrs. G's side of the family ain't big on any work detail and burnt seems to be the family receipe. I do have a nanner cream pie that should be ready to eat about 9. I'll let you know whether it's any good. ;-) |

| When our son went away to college he had the diner next to the dorm burn his toasted cheese black and his hamurgs cooked to a crisp because that the way his mother did them. He thought blackened was invented by her. Henry |

| I am just like you when it comes to the big meals. Not trying to be mean, but if I need help I will ask, otherwise enjoy the company and I will holler when it's done. |

| Yep! They'll ask how I managed to put together hot appetizers to keep them occupied and still get the meat, the veggies, the taters, and the yeast rolls all to come together at once, and I've been known to say that it was because nobody was in the road. Like you, not being mean, just finding some satisfaction in putting down a nice meal for some good folks. |
