LarryM 03-11-2012 21:21:00 76.210.69.201 Report to Moderator	I bought a Kaufmann single wheel tandem axle gooseneck with a 20' bed and a 4' beaver tail this winter. I kept looking for a single wheel trailer with 8000lbs axles. As it truns out this trailer GVWR is 18,000 lbs. It looks like a really well built trailer. It has load range F tires. Didn't know made load range F tires. Until now load range E is the highest I had seen in a 16" diamter wheel. Anyway it has almost no miles on it, less than two years old, never seen salt, and I bought it for $4400. I have olny used it once but it pulls real nice. So my question is two fold one. Is there something I need to watch out for with a load range F tire? Has anyone had any issuse with a Kaufman trailer? [Reply]   [No Email]

It has about 200,000 miles on it. It has served me very well. No manufacturer defects, no other issues. Not happy about the rear light placement as they keep getting caught on things and broken. Would go with disc brakes next time. For the price, they were $2,000 less than comparable trailers and it only took ten days to build, compared to two months from other companies in the northeast. I honestly liked the 2000 trailer better but I am not exactly sure why. It just felt different in a better way, both loaded and empty. But I am not complaining. If I sold the 2007, I would buy another Kaufman trailer without even thinking about it. Never had any manufacturing issues and the only thing I have to do periodically is fix the deck boards which pop up. But that"s normal. [Reply]  [No Email]

What size are the 16 inch load range F tires on your trailer? The 8K axles usually have 5/8" wheel studs, is that what you have? I think you did good, maybe saved close to $2K versus new Kaufman. bobs old iron 03-11-2012 23:27:03 97.124.216.116 Report to Moderator	Re: Kaufmann Gooseneck in reply to LarryM, 03-11-2012 21:21:00   not really,,the load range 'f' tires are common on construction, hauling low-boys equipment trailers,,,you can get them for flat/goose bed trailers, they are just a bit more lbs rated tire..if/when i need to re place my tires, i might see about 'f' range for it..as for brand of trailer, don't have any ideas..some one will chime in with info...
