Don't know who you heard that $1.25 per mile from, but that price is ancient history unless your tractor can share a ride with about 4 other tractors or other freight. If you can't find a truck to share a ride on, figure closer to $3 per loaded mile, or even $4. |

| | Yep, As of a couple of days ago, hauling was $5 a loaded mile here. Think the dollar is worth anything anymore? :>( Allan |

| There is and always will be cheap hauling available. There are plenty of guys with trucks that think that even though they are losing money that they can make it up with volume. |

| I got into it with a customer of mine just the other day...."Something is better than nothing" he tells me. WAY too many guys think that, I for one will let the truck sit before I go backwards. Sometimes it is better to run empty than with a cheap loaded rate, just because of the fuel cost difference. |

| I hauled a load out of JJ Snack Foods in Pennsauken NJ one time. Took a day of sitting on a streetside in Philly to get it, and they still wanted it delivered at the same time. Got there, it was a floor load, stacked to the ceiling. Cost more to have it unloaded than the load paid. It was one of the last we pulled out of there. It literally would have been cheaper to run home empty from Philly to the far corner of PA that day. |
