Daveindouglasville 09-06-2011 11:06:27 131.146.160.174 Report to Moderator	Looking to pick up a new tractor in Crossville, TN about 80 miles north of Chattanooga & get it to Douglasville GA about 25 miles west of Atlanta & looking for reliable & reasonable transport costs & companies. I've heard $1.25 per loaded mile but don't know who provides this service. Any ideas? Thanks again... [Reply]   [No Email]

The one that " magically changes " the price of #2 diesel to 25 cents a gallon - the price of a tire to $5.00 - the price of an oil change to 35 cents - the cost of operating a vehicle & trailer to 5 cents a mile ..... The same " Magic Wand " that brought foreigners to this country that took away the trucking jobs The same " Magic Wand " that took away the manufacturing jobs to the wonderful foreign countries .... If & when I find my " Magic Wand " I will be sure to use it on those folks that believe paying 50 cents a mile to haul a tractor is " fair " or " better than nothing " .... You know, those folks who typically have a helluva lot more money than other folks because they pay below cost for goods & services .... Then they brag about how they got " such a good deal " ..... Those folks don't realize we all live in the same country - we all contribute to the economy - we all " turn the wheel ". Those folks don't realize - care - accept that when you CHEAT a fellow person out of a decent living ..... You weaken this economy - this country. If & when I DO find my " Magic Wand " ... larryanderson 09-08-2011 05:30:27 75.104.160.55 Report to Moderator	Re: Transporting a Tractor in reply to Daveindouglasville, 09-06-2011 11:06:27   I have several tractors hauled and the minimum is about $400 as the time it takes to load and unload usually will take an hour if everything goes perfect costing at least 70 miles of if you are rolling.Usually if tractors are at a dealership people that haul new in like to reload and if its going your direction you can get a good rate.It costs about .60 a mile for fuel alone.If its wide permits are required.If you let them work it in to their schedule it helps.Hauling schedule works good sometimes and there are many good truckers just trying to make a decent living.One tractor will cost at least $3.00 a loaded mile [Reply]  [No Email]

And i can also see that you have never run a truck either large or small . a big truck will suck up fuel at the rate of if your lucky around 6.5 miles to a gallon and at a small price of close to 4 bucks a gallon . One tire will set you back around 350 bucks times 18 then comes the insurance for a big truck at around 6 grand a year then the taxes then the repairs . There ain't no more fifty bucks and axle brake jobs anymore . then road use taxes plate fees . and now you want to have them haul your tractor for fifty bucks . or even a couple hundred bucks for five hundred miles . If you think you can haul stuff cheaper Knock yourself out and go buy a truck , lost of trucks out there for sale and lots of step decks too. Way back in the 80's to operate a big truck it cost 1 dollar 13.9 cents a mile JUST TO RUN THE truck BEFORE you put one little penny in your pocket. And that was when fuel went over a dollar a gallon. and you could still buy a NEW truck and trailer for UNDER a hundred grand. [Reply]  [No Email]

I had to wait a few days but the guy was headed to Louisiana with an empty truck to pick up some equipment. Using the Hauling Schedule posting I have usually had tractors delivered cheaper than I can go get them myself. I'm pretty sure I couldn't drag my gooseneck 330 miles and haul a load back for $200. I'm sure that the location of the pickup and delivery can have a big impact on what kind of deals are to be had. If both are in high traffic areas more truckers are likely to be passing through there anyway. [Reply]  [No Email]

Right at 600 miles. The trucking company said he would do it for $300 if we wait till he has a load to fill. Had a JD 1020 hauled from Virginia a month ago for $600. That was over 1400 miles. Ask around at a local trucking company. They like to run with full loads. [Reply]  [No Email]

WAY too many guys think that, I for one will let the truck sit before I go backwards. Sometimes it is better to run empty than with a cheap loaded rate, just because of the fuel cost difference. Took a day of sitting on a streetside in Philly to get it, and they still wanted it delivered at the same time. Got there, it was a floor load, stacked to the ceiling. Cost more to have it unloaded than the load paid. It was one of the last we pulled out of there. It literally would have been cheaper to run home empty from Philly to the far corner of PA that day.
