mkirsch 08-16-2011 08:22:56 64.80.110.74 Report to Moderator	PJ trailers has a new line of 14,000lb GVWR lowboy trailers with drive-over fenders and a 101" wide deck. It's nice because the tractors ride over 12"+ lower than a deckover, and it's got a nice low loading height. I was all set to buy one until I measured the width between the fenders: 81". The big M-size tractors are no problem, just drive them over the fenders... However, I've got tractors that are just slightly too wide to fit (81"-84" wide). Would it be better just to get the deckover, or is it worth adding ramps to extend the fenders for the lower, more stable ride height? [Reply]   [No Email]

The dealer pumped up the tires about 15 pounds over normal, & I squeezed the tires between the fender wells touching on both sides, & hauled it 100 miles. The trailer was 14,000 GVWR, & the tractor I was told had no fluid in the tires. Wrong! Found out later there was 2200 lbs. It put me 1 ton overweight. If I didnt take off the front weights it would have been another 800lbs on top of that. I have also looked at PJ trailers; but I will have a deckover bumper type so I dont have to mess up the pickup bed! The drive over fenders wont give You a descent 60 - 40 load which is the proper trailer balance; unless You drive the rear tires partially between the fenders on most trctors. You dont want to chain a tractor down with them on the fenders for sure. [Reply]  [No Email]

It is 20" long 102" wide, has (2) 5200 lb axles with brakes. It is 83" between fenders. Fenders will support 4000 lbs. It tows great loaded or empty. [Reply]  [No Email]
bobs old iron 08-16-2011 19:24:54 75.171.162.106 Report to Moderator	Re: Drive-over fenders in reply to mkirsch, 08-16-2011 08:22:56   i have a trailer made by [may] trailer co, in okla, it"s a 102 wide with run over fenders holding 3k on them. all my tractors fit between the wheel wells, those who don"t can run over the fender with no problem. i guessing the in between with is around 90>92 because the run over fenders are about 6>8 inches.
