This is my belief,,, if you can afford a nice winch you can afford a nice battery to operate it,,, I know the day will come when I wish I had the best of both worlds ,,, good set of leads that will reach the truck battery,,, if all you are gonna do is load a non runner that will roll you mite git by,,, you will know if the winch does need its own battery,,, don't push the issue stop and let it cool,,, same as yer starter motor yer winch motor taint bulletproof,,, use your judgment

| 8' of #2 gage welding cable was $50 last summer. The longer the run, the heavier the cable would need to be. What about a battery isolation kit for an RV to charge the trailer/winch battery? |
