ive noticed that too, the jakes on the cats don't have the braking power they do on a Cummings,i thought it was just my truck, my old kw i personally owned , [ 400 big cam] would nearly slide the tires if you jaked the engine without a loaded trailer, the 3406b in this peterbilt, can make the noise but unless your way down in the tranny it doesn't do a whole lot |

| On my old 77 4300 the jake almost caused a major Carroll county accedent on the Buckeye toll road one winter day . My buddy and i had just dropped a load of coal at Republic Steel in Cleveland and dispatch wanted us to go to Woodville to get a load of Burnt lime for Weirton steel . So quickest way there was the green stamp. Like always Mike and i were flying and between exit 8 and 9 we ran into freezen rain . I am in the lead when Mike (aka) SLOW POKE comes on the cb and says HEY GHOST what does it mean when i can read your trailer plate FROM THE ROAD . I had the Jake select switch set on 3 and i was in the big hole in O/D and i let up on the go pedal and the jake kicked in and the FIRE WENT OUT locking up the drives at 70 MPH , in and instant i was all over both lanes sliding steering wheel felt like it had set up in concrete shoved the clutch down and restarting the engine and bring it back up to the same RPM to get this truck back under control was fun . SO NOTE TO SELF when road get shiny NO lever 3 on Jake brake when empty . |
