I have a length of Copper Braided Wire in a sheath. It is P-241-3-MSHA....IS that heavy enough to run a 30 AMP RV????? THANKS

It can. Yes. But..

P-241-3-MSHA is only 12 gauge wire,. 10 gauge is preferred for 30amp RV use.. Very flexible, water resistant and Mine Safety and Health Act approved for use in the mining industry. If I am not mistaken. It is known as Cloeman Cable. It is expensive if you buy good quality. Around $3-4 a foot.

"P-241-3-MSHA"

Is just the uses specifications like wet conditions, power cord, etc.

Made in various wire gauge combonations.

What gauges of wires is in your cable?

The Shore Power Cords used for 30 Amp RV's are made up of 10 Gauge Stranded Copper conductors (3 wires, Hot Neutral, Ground), not sure what your wires ampacity is ??

HOW did you come up with that, "P-241-3-MSHA is only 12 gauge wire"?

"P-241-3-MSHA" is the voltage and moisture resistance rating of the jacket and says NOTHING about conductor size, AFAIK.

"P-241-3-MSHA" rated wire is available in a range of conductor sizes.

The three individual copper wires that are braided together are 3/16 in diameter for each one and with that little coating around them they are a 1/4 inch in dia. I don't know what number that would be-----10----8----6 ????????
