A lot of you guys may not know I have been practicing pinstriping and lettering since 2007 . I made a little art area in my shop with an old drafting table and stocked up on 1-Shot lettering enamels and practiced thousands of brush stroke until I got it. I tried to do a variety of sign types . Paint is love Paint is fun .

That is really nice work ! Really nice ! Do you also do airbrushing ? I at this point in life dont have the patience for doing that type of work, maybe someday ! Probably is relaxing working away from the crowd and doing your own thing ! I think its great ! Good for you !

Inside the plant at work are about a half dozen hand-painted signs, just room identifiers, equipment labels, etc.

When I point them out to the new guys, and explain that there was at least one if not four of five full-time people who painted signs and lettered office doors back in the 60's and 70's, they are completely amazed.

You do nice work, Doc. Keep it up!

Amazing, I have neither the patience nor the artistry to do that type of work. I'm more of a chainsaw type artist just cut it off to burn in the furnace. Within an inch or a foot works fine, as long as it fits in the door.

My daughter is an artist.
When she told me she wanted to be an artist, I told her the difference between a large pizza and an artist,
A pizza can feed a family of 4.
If her husband didn't make 6 figures, she would know first hand that Daddy was right.

What do you do if have a musician on your doorstep? Pay him for the pizza.

Thanks for the funny.

I will ask my daughter, what do I do if I have an artist on my doorstep? Pay her for the pizza.

That is some real nice work, wish I had your talent. The Bear sign sure brings back memories as I walked under one of those every day for over 44 years going in front door of body shop, and when in gasoline alley at Indy made sure I took pictures of their Bear sign.

In the 80's when I was starting out as a mechanic I worked at a Heavy Duty GMC dealer. We had a local guy that would come in and letter the semi tractors for customers when they were sold. I watched him a few times just lay his long skinny brush at an angle on the door and use it as guide to do a whole logo freehand. What an art! Now its all stickers

When I worked at Western Auto, the Bear sign spelled it 'Alinement'. Always thought that was odd but now it seems the store had a genuine antique.
