Manley Press made during the hard times dated April 1937. Model 190 60 ton. Certain I paid to much for it, looks like it needs some work. Ram seems stuck doesn't retract all the way in checks are bypassing or the release valve is seeping can't get pressure up where I can move the ram. 4 coats of paint that need to come off. Tom

Think I got the original press plates or some that may have come with it.

Nice!

Got one similar in the shop. Had to replace the cylinder seal, and works great!

But, it was painfully slow to pump. Solution, I plumbed in a small self contained electric pump unit.

I kept the hand pump for delicate work, the electric pump for positioning and brute force. I can also hide beside the frame and operate the electric pump when things get scary!

That looks a lot like what our local blacksmith has. He"s mid 80s, still in the shop 6 days a week...(his son works 5). Isn"t much that he hasn"t fixed. Very creative as well. Patented a unique tractor mount snow blower, also makes front mount versions. Lots of custom work- baseball stadiums, mink farms, meat processing, etc.

Little auto repair shop mile and a half up the road has one like it, arbor press on the side too. He just stripped it down last winter and painted it gray and black, looks sharp.
Place I retired from had one, was pretty much junk forty years ago when I started, was always surprised nobody got a bearing race in the side of the head. I used to try to hide behind the side channel when giving it that last couple of hard pumps. Think that was a fifty ton.
