Bug repelling paint

Years ago I worked for a farmer who painted the inside of his barn and added some insecticide to the paint so the finished ceiling would not gather so many flies. I don't know if it was a purchased product or a home brew. Anyway I built a playhouse for my boys and want to paint the inside to brighten it up and wonder is there anything I can add to repel spiders from moving in, they already made a lot of webs before the roof was even on. Any ideas?

I have heard you use the fruit from a hedge apple tree. They are supposed to repel spiders. Its also called an osage orange tree.

farmerjohn,
I bought and used this product years ago, worked good.I don't know if it's still made, but the photos of the product should help. It's called DIAL PAINT INSECTICIDE.
Hope it helps,
LOU

Do you really want your kids playing inside of something full of insecticide ???????????

I'd rethink that plan.

If it repels spiders using an actual insecticide its not something the kids should be around for sure. Most of those old insecticides have pretty nasty chemicals in them.

Yes indeed, rethink.
