From the photos I have found on the internet, I have a Beaumont Vitali rifle. The swiss vetterli rifle is different. How do I tell the difference between the Italian and the swiss? |

| Swiss use a rimfire cartridge .41. The Italians copied the swiss bolt action but used a centerfire cartridge. Strikers offset in Swiss. Dutch Beaumonts as noted used a different bolt handle with the leaf spring for striker/firing pin in the handle. Lots of things happened after American civil war and before WW1 with the cartridge breech loader replacing loose charged muzzleloaders, then the smokeless powders boosting bullet velocities and chamber pressures. Was interesting times among the empirial armies trying to keep up with other armies technology. RN |
