George Marsh 01-13-2013 16:56:30 50.104.202.156 Report to Moderator	Old, 50 years ago everything came with a diagram. Today,o diagrams, most will buy new. I've fixed many chargers, none had diagrams. If you have seen one charger, you have seen most. Difference is smart chargers have a brain box. I've repaired golf cart chargers my by-passing a defective brain box and installing a timer. Sit down with pencil and paper and make your own diagram. It's not that hard. Is there something special about the Schumaker Battery charger? I've found the things that seem to go bad are usually in this order: Power cords have an open. Switches go bad. Brain boxes get damaged by a power surge. Wire connection internally burn off. Yes a simple transformer diode/rectifier and the timer switch and then the 2-40 amp switch and the 40/200 amp boost switch. A simple shunt type amp gauge and then what appears to be a breaker on the negative cable [Reply]  [No Email]

Use an ohmmeter and start looking for the problem. Only one time did I find a transformer go bad on a golf cart charger. It had aluminum windings. Rarely do the diodes go bad. It's usually switches, bad electrical connections or where the wires go in to the charger or come out cause the wires to open. Check the circuit breaker, a 200 amp boost will eat it. Brain boxes are problematic too, but you have a timer. Shouldn't be that hard to fix. LOL Happy trouble shooting. George [Reply]  [No Email]
old 01-14-2013 09:20:20 209.86.226.32 Report to Moderator	Re: Schumaker Battery chargers wiring diagram in reply to George Marsh, 01-14-2013 03:36:10   Well at this point I do know the switches work or should I say I know the timer and the 2amp-40 amp switch works since when you switch it down to 2 amps the fan slows down like it should and up to 40 amps and the fan speeds up like it should. Just one of those little cold weather project I can do in the warm house and if I can fix them have spare chargers on hand [Reply]  [No Email]
