I am going to buy a new shop-vac; old one died. Can't even remember where I bought it. I would like to buy locally. Looked at Walmart.com and I confused my self on which one to buy. Not going to buy from them unless I can't find one around town. Any suggestions appreciated.

I bought a Stanley shop vac from Costco $for 29.00. It has a large push switch on top to turn on/off and has a carrying handle on top as well. It is about 2 gallons and has good suction. The smaller size makes it very easy to move about.

I had ShopVac brand for years. They were okay. I happened to see a comparison in one of the wood working mags about the time I needed a new one. They rated the biggest Craftsman at the time the best, less money too. Had it 10 years or so and I'm very happy.

I've had a Shop Vac, Craftsman and now own a Rigid. The first two were noisy so I did some research on the net. The Rigid was rated at being the least noisy. It is fairly quite compared to the screamers I had before. Lots of power, works well.

I went through three in short order (one lasted two days) and I haven't replaced them. I have an older small one that is a good one, but I think they are all junk now. Makes me mad.

Maybe I will try Rigid.

I had two ShopVacs go bad on me. I bought two Rigid at Home Depot - they were kind of noisy, but really reliable.

I like the biggest craftsman shop vac because you can remove the power head and use as a 210 mph blower. I use the blower as much as the vac.

I bought a 14 gallon, 5.5 horse shop-vac at Lowe's a year ago. (one of 5 that I have) I use this one in the house to clean out the pellet stove once a week and sweep the floors a few times a week (cuz of the dawg). It's relatively quiet and has good suction. These used to be made in Canton Pa. about 20 miles from here. Now there all made by Charlie Chung about 12,000 miles from here.

I got mine from Lowes a few years back. I would not buy it until I first plugged it in and heard how loud it was, I have seen some that make more noise than suction. Sales man looked like he thought I was crazy but it's my ears not his at stake. I was satisfied with the Shop Vac brand that they sold.
