gapfast 12-23-2012 18:46:07 166.182.3.129 Report to Moderator	I found this forum through extensive searching on info on my newly acquired air compressor. <br>Bought it several months ago and just now getting it wired up. When I fired it up I hear a bit of a knock I notice the belts are pretty loose so I replace them. Still don"t have them tightened enough I don"t think. Whats the secret?<br>After further investigation there seems to be some play at the crankshaft. I assume it needs new bearings. Does anybody sell those? Mine had a little rust at the top of the bore from sitting and was causing a knock. [Reply]  [No Email]

Crank and rods look rusted quite a bit. haven't got bearings off of crank yet. There not just sliding off. Gonna clean it up a bit and go from there. Where is the best place for parts? XRogerX 12-30-2012 16:55:29 99.254.4.97 Report to Moderator	Re: help with devilbiss 432 in reply to gapfast, 12-29-2012 17:33:51   You can knock the roller bearings off pretty easy with an air hammer but be careful not to wreck the sheet metal cups on either end of the crankshaft. Independent Components Corp and Parts Service International supplied most of the stuff I used to rebuild with. I"d go with OEM valve springs though, and double check bearing clearances and ring gap. Is that common? parts service international said they had no parts. As far as icc they only sell to suppliers. Maybe this thing is not worth rebuilding. I'm still pushin fwd though! If they flywheel is moving, it is probably loose. It is a taper shaft, so if it is not snug, it will wobble. [Reply]  [No Email]
XRogerX 12-25-2012 13:42:02 99.254.4.97 Report to Moderator	Re: help with devilbiss 432 in reply to gapfast, 12-23-2012 18:46:07   I assume "some play at the crankshaft" means you can rotate the flywheel without hearing or feeling any resistance for the first bit? If so, I would suspect wear on the small ends, or a worn crank. If these machines are run low on oil, the oil slinger rings on either end of the crank have nothing to pick up and the rods and pistons will run dry, with the usual results. Other than that, the locking bolts and nuts holding down the valves may be slack allowing the valves to move around in the head. You won"t know until you tear it down. Everything on this pump is rebuildable; whether it"s cost effective to do so is another matter. It"s an excellent pump though, absolutely top quality, good up to 7.5hp, maybe even 10 if you push it.
