My Idealarc 300 TIG sounds like it is similar to your machine. From your description the remote foot switch is operating correctly as far as tripping the contactor and starting the high frequency. It just is not regulating the current. I would look at the switch to see if mechanically something has happened or if a wire has broken somewhere. It may be a bad control board for the remote operation in the machine itself. You can get an operator's manual at the Lincoln website if you have none. It will have the complete wiring diagram in it to help diagnose the problem.
