I'm not asking about the recent elections or a bad life choice you made 20 or 30 years ago, I'm wondering about the little day to day irritants that make us well... "crabby old men"!
Mine for the day was a huge diesel dually parked at the mini mart squarely between the 2 pump islands and effectively blocking 8 pumps and nowhere near to any of them to have fueled up. Of course the truck had out of state plates and the logo on the door identified it as drilling company rig. So what are you in a lather about this morning?

Trucking companies who govern their trucks at 62 mph when they belly ached for years about raising it to 65 so everyone would be moving near the same speed. SWIFT is the worst.

My work truck is governed to 60 mph. The problem is, the speedo is wrong. I am actually doing about 58 when it says 60. I can finagle 60 if I bump the cruise control. This must mean we are saving fuel>

-People who can't follow the three steps from you to someone you know, like your uncle's brother-in-law's girlfriend.
-People who do 50 in a 35 in town to pass you, then do 45 in the 65 outside of town.
-People who come up on me doing 10+ over the limit (or over what I am doing in bad weather) but are afraid to pass, then tailgate me til I pull off, even on ice.
-People who you just want to ask them, "does your brain hear what your mouth is saying?", even though sometimes they can be rather entertaining.

Oh, and I forgot, those whose first and only answer to a question about a piece of equipment you are unfamiliar with (or only see occasionally), or want an opinion on, is "go buy a manual".

These all pretty well covered my list, but I would have to add:
Young people, especially women with large tattoes all over in plain sight, and peircings in every part of their body. Ears are ok, but when I see someone with a bolt through their lip or a nose ring I want to throw up.

I parked at Home Despot one bright sunny day,
with my Ranger truck, hung the handicap cardboard
plate on the dash. since the mirror had fell off
several days before, and got out. Just in time to
have some gray haired old busy body march right
over to my truck, and dress me down for parking in
a handi-cap zone!
I hadn't quite gotten out all the way, so i
said:" Hey, lady, just wait until i see if my leg
has grown back on yet, and pulled up my pant leg.
When she got a look at my wood leg with the hole
in it, she didn't know what to say. Her husband
apologized, and dragged her back to their car, and
they sat there until i got inside the store! Bet
she keeps her trap shut now!

I'm about to be 64 years old, an age that used to be unattainable but now doesn't seem so old.

I have finally made it my purpose in life not to be crabby. Instead, I have a theory about people in general. It's like a big yard full of dogs. Think about it---There are the ones that always wag the tail and are happy to see you, they get along with everyone. Then there is the one that will growl at first and warm up...every time you see it. And, when you hear a bunch of fighting going on and go to check on them there is the one that's sitting on the porch, wagging his tail as if to say he isn't doing anything wrong, even though he started the fight. Chasing tails has its own category as well. Or how about the high maintenance ones that act so sweet just after going to the groomer but turn into sad sacks after a week or so?

You can use your imagination here. I like to size up people in a crowd to see which one of the dogs they resemble. If you see me smiling it may not be for the reason you think...

When I list something for sale on Craigslist and some idiot always calls and offers half the asking price over the phone having never looked at it. I always save their phone number in my phone and name it "IDIOT" so I won't answer it. Funny thing, if someone shows up to look at what I have to offer and they offer half the price, I well may take it if I want it gone.

Calling the VA and having to listen to the lying recorded messages about how happy they are to be able to provide your medical care when they really hope you will go ahead and die so they don't have to mess with you. Then if you have enough patience to stay on there and actually get to talk to a human being, we have a big language problem, as I only speak English. But they will be more than happy to transfer you to somebody else who knows nothing either, they have that part down pretty good.

There is a line in an old movie, a Japenese guy says "you Americans behave as if stupidity is a virtue". To me it seems as if someone opened the gate and all the stupid people escaped, trying to hold a conversation now a days is very difficult. All hand held electronics should be banned, hard to talk to someone when their thumbs are texting someone else.

It's very simple really. You get to a certain age where you have built up enough 'life experience' to have somewhat "seen it all before" and you realize that all the "stupid stuff" never seems to change or get better and it gets irritating to see it over and over and over... That's when you get labeled as'crotchety'.

People that come to a family oriented forum like this one and use disguised or misspelled filthy language. And often they are the same people that complain about the young kids with filthy mouths they see around them. Gee, wonder where they picked that habit up?

This never ending habit our various levels of gov't have of taking more and more from my pocket and returning less and less to the taxpayer. Personally, I couldn't care less about the drinking habits of Chinese prostitutes or the population of 3 toed hognosed shrews in Speedzoneahead Alabama nor do I see the need for new side walk in front of the Quikee Mart that just happens to be owned by Assemblyman Lardbottoms brother in law or the need for $5000.00 a piece street lights and "period" brick pavers along main street in my county seat. I don't mind paying my fair share of taxes, but I do most certainly mind the sheer waste of taxpayer money I see every day around me.

I'll just stop with those 2.

I'll tell ya what gets me.
It seems like every store nowadays has some kind of rewards card they want you to use.
Super America gas, Rainbow (Roundys) grocery store, Ace Hardware, Pet food Wharehouse, Best Buy, and I think Cub Foods/Holiday Gas have recently teamed up with some kind of a rewards card.
And every body asks "Do you have a Rewards card?"
If people want to use the stupid rewards cards have at it.
If you want to fill your wallet with 20 of the darned things, be my guest.
But don't bug me about your card every time I buy something.
I have a big, deep voice so when they ask me I say so everyone can hear me; "No Bloody Cards!" Then they get offended and say "I'm just doing my job sir."
I tell them that excuse didn't work at the Nuremburg Trials and it doesn't work with me.
Usually I just get a blank stare in return.

I guess I will take a crack at it.

Was behind a well dressed woman in the grocery store with Steaks, soda, Red Bull and all kinds of snacks in an overflowing cart..

She whipped out her 'government benefit card' and somehow got cash change back.

The clerk handed a couple of bills and some change which included pennies. This gal said "Keep those, I don't need them".

I do all right in retirement but that just smoked me.

I think all of the previous replies cover 90% of the things that irritate me. Two things I didn't see listed, that bug the crap out of me, are the kids walking around with their pants pulled down around the cheeks of their a$$, and the ones with their bought new, but worn out looking, hats sitting on their heads cocked to one side. I saw one like that, who thought he was COOL, talking to a friends daughter. I told him that out here in the country we wore our hats the RIGHT way, and when someone told him he looked 'stupid', it wasn't a compliment like it's become in 'the hood'.

That said I can sum it what sets me off in four words..."I hate stupid people".......

Between where my farm and where I work my "real" job there is a five mile stretch of roadway that is basically rural but also goes through a small community. It has a double yellow line all the way.

The speed limit is 30 MPH and the police enforce it erratically. I drive the speed limit because I don't want a ticket. Every day there is a pile-up of cars behind me wanting to go faster.

They have bright headlights that they sometimes flash at me, horns that they sometimes blow at me, and well-known hand gestures that they show to me. IT AIN'T MY IDEA TO SET THE SPEED LIMIT. Talk to the county commissioners if you want to, but leave me alone.

People who ask What type of lube, and how much,
does my tractor transmission take ?..That's the
ones who are too dumb, too cheap, or too lazy, to
get an owners manual !

I will give it a shot.
1 People blocking fuel pumps.
2 Screaming kids.
3 Back talking kids
4 People that stop in the door of a store to talk.
5 People that block an isle to hold a reunion.
6 People that wait to the last minute to write a check at the checkout line.
7 People that complain because something cost a penny more at checkout.
8 People that bring me equipment to fix. Tell me no hurry. Then they call every ten minutes checking on it.
9 People that move to my town. Then tell me how good it was were they used to live. Why did you leave.
10 I had better stop. I am getting crabby and no one is here but me.

Well my BS filter filled up years ago. So I can't take anymore BS. Common problem in old guys. LOL

As far as what makes me grumpy: Well just about anything that is younger, older, or even moves some days. The list would be a mile long.

The one thing that will upset me fast is when you have some one who says they will be out on such and such day and you wait and wait for them and they never show up. Or the person who calls and says they will be here at 1pm and they do not show up till 4pm. That is one if not the most irritating thing I know of

Yep if I say I will be there at such and such a time you can bet I will be there 10 minutes or more before I say I will. If I tell a person I will be there on such and such a day I will be there and if something comes up that I have to be late or not show up I will call and explain what has happened so that person can do something else

Drivers in a hurry to pull out in front of you, then drive way below the speed limit where you can't pass.

Or drivers in a hurry to pull out in front of you, then immediately decide that they have to take a left turn and make you stop while they take that left turn.
