So last spring my daughter calls and wants me to come down and re-set the angle on her disc. (It's one of those "economy" units where you have to loosen the brackets and slide the disc gang to whichever hole you desire to get the desired angle.) On the way I stopped at the local hardware for some penetrating oil, just in case. He only had a couple of cans, one I didn't like and one that I had never seen before, but I bought it. I think it was about seven dollars, but that was cheaper than driving 30 miles round trip to town and back. Didn't need it, brought it home and put it on the shelf. OK, a few weeks ago I had to loosen the feeder pipe on the EGR valve on one of my trucks. And if you have ever tried to loosen one of those suckers, you know what I'm talking about! Liquid Wrench didn't do any good, then I spotted this stuff. Gave it a good shot and when I put a wrench on it, it felt cold! What the heck? Maybe it's time to read the instructions. Read the label and it contains 1,1-Difluoroethane! "Freezes & breaks rust loose when nothing else will!" So I gave it a good shot for 5 or 10 seconds like it said, and I'll be danged if it didn't work! Don't know if anyone else has tried it or not, it's called Next Dimension. Super Rust Breaker. Kinda pricey, but it does seem to work. Just thought I would pass this along. [Reply]   [No Email]

But there are much cooler things you can do with it than freeze rusty parts. For example, you can freeze flies with it. It'll freeze them solid. A few minutes later, they'll thaw out and start moving - they'll be flying again within 5 minutes. [Reply]  [No Email]

Tip the can upside down and spray, same effect. It also works for getting gum off of carpet. Freeze it and then it will chip right off. This post was edited by Inno at 12:53:06 10/29/12. At a pinch you can also get a can of "compressed air" or duster and turn the can upside down, you will get the same effect. Never thought of trying it on rusty/siezed nuts etc. will have to try. To install bushings, bearings, etc. you either heat or chill them, this just makes it easier to loosen things if they are too large to put in the refrigerator. LOL. And of course, in the instance of a EGR pipe, heat would not work well because that is why it is so darned hard to get loose in the first place. This stuff causes the metal to contract so fast that it breaks rust, etc. loose. [Reply]  [No Email]
