I have a home built hose reel. I used a 1/4" air quick coupling as the rotary union to allow the reel to rotate while providing air to the hose. The coupling doesn't last very long until it starts leaking. Does anyone know of a source to replace this with something that was intended to do this job? This time, I greased the inside of the coupling. I have no idea if it will help.
Thanks in advance!

We have used the same setup (quick coupler as a rotary union + home made 100 ft reel) It still is leak free after 10+ years. It is an ARO brand and the parts are well coated with grease to lubricate them.

I guess I will continue using the $5 quick connect.
I did see that Blains had a reel with I think 50 foot of hose for around $40.
Thanks for the conversation.

The hose reels we have at work have rotary unions that are repairable. There are only two o-rings to replace. Remove a snap ring and it's apart.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeThey are by no means heavy duty commercial quality, but you could buy the cheapest hand-crank hose reel from Harbor Freight/Tool and use the rotary joint........they will last awhile. $19.99

Googling "air hose reel swivel" gets you a lot of options. It looks like they start around 50 bucks.
