How can the rack engage the constant spinning pinion without grinding gears? What happens when the piece of wood is too tough for it to split? [Reply]   [No Email]

My thinking is it depends on what you generaly use for firewood. I got the SpeeCo version from TSC and tried out out on the fence row Elm we usualy burn and it was less than satifactory in a big way so I returned it. Turns out that was a good decission as there has been major problems with that brand, I am pretty sure SpeeCo has withdrawn from selling them. It was a lot faster than a hydraulic splitter. It did not grind the gears. If you hit a piece that was too hard to split the first hit the rack will return. Let the flywheels speed back up and hit it again. You did not get too many you could not split. [Reply]  [No Email]

If the piece is to tough you use it in the outside fireplace. It doesn't seem to grind the gears. [Reply]  [No Email]
