Folks, local county surplus property auction sale has 5000 watt Onan twin cylinder LP gas generator for sale. Used to be a standby unit for Sheriffs Dept. radio tower. Hour meter reads
242 hours. I know the mechanic personally that serviced it and he said start and ran fine BUTTTT
been in storage building 15 years. Model, serial as follows: 5.OCCK 08747769181 or 8cr/118481 (not sure if those #s make sense as can"t make out that well) Serial no. 374769181. I would like to get this as a small home stanby unit. Need somthing in winter months to run outdoor boiler and small furnace fan blower. Would install proper transfer switch and then manually move load around to various circuits as needed. Would also like to know if this would start submursible well pump. Well pump motor is a Franklin 6.8 amps on nameplate 230 volt single phase. The generator plate reads 120-240 volts 20.8 amps 60hz single phase. Also wondering about part availibility, cost, common touble spots ect. I know the units been stored dry and it spins over freely. Would appreciate any-all info given. Tom B.

Just noticed. It has the Tri-Fuel carb. Means it can run on Propane,NG or Gasoline. I have seen that carb alone go for over two hundred dollars. You will need a three wire start. Transfer switch. The CCK is the Holy Grail of smaller Onan units.

Grab it. The CCK is the one everybody is looking for.Cummins has jacked the price of the older parts really high. But you can find cheaper prices, out there. The only weak spot is the control board. But you can get a better one from Flight Systems.

Can you get a better picture of the tag. You have to many numbers.Should read.
5.0 CCK-3cr/118481
0874776918

Built in August 1974. Take care of it and it will outlast your grand kids.Average price is around 500.00 for one.Depends on condition and options. If the hour meter is correct. It is not broken in yet. Has many hours to go.

If you don't want it. Just post where it is at. I know around fifty people that would be glad to have it.

Ive had Onan generator for 20 years.Mine is 120 volt only.Gasoline electric start.Runs at 1800 rpm.It developes 10 hp at that speed.I built a cart for it so I could move it outside.Ive heard parts are enpensive, havent needed any. That engine was used on welders.Best money I ever spent. Its quiet when running.

Should not be an issue as long as there isn't a lot of other stuff on line at the same time. It's all additive. Furnace + circulating fan + pump should not exceed 20 amps. Actually 16 amps would be a safer number (80% full load)

My 4000 watt runs my 3/4 submersable - but barks pretty good when it first kicks on. Youe unit looks like it needs a good cleaning and a little TLC.
