There is a stuff out called Kool coat and from what I hear it is probably the best stuff a person can use. Has something like a 15 year warranty on the stuff and it is a white plastic coating but if does cost a bit more then the other stuff at around $80 for 5gal

I use plain old oil based barn paint. takes along time to dry and u might have to spray it again in 5yrs but it's cheap and after to spray a couple coats (i even had my paint guy come back and spray a second coat 90 days later) its looks/lasts great. this was really badly rusted old tin!

Fibrated aluminum asphalt coating. Comes n 5 gallon buckets, Southern States, and other farm stores. Put it on with a roof brush, if the roof is rusty. Don't let the fly-by-night NC gypsies hose their thinned out aluminum paint, over the FAA coating, for at least 2-3 years. Stuff takes a while to dry out.

I don't if it is the best but I have had good success with elastomeric coating on metal roofs. Seems to adhear to almost anything.
