Hello I think I read on here that you service Generators. I would like to know from an expert guy (like you) what company makes a good propane powered generator in the 3KW range? I am asking cause I have a Pull start gasoline powered 5.5 Kw unit. But...if I was out of power for a long period of time in the winter I dont want to have to drive up and get gas every 3 days. I have my own propane 500 gallon tank, and propane is cheaper than Gasoline. I have seen on the electric generator direct website that Onan/cummins makes a 3.5 Kw unit. Are these real good? I also see a Generac for $650. Please give me your opinions on what I should get for long term usage, like 2 weeks or more. Also for long term usage I would be using my furnace only in the winter time which needs 110 volts to function. I would be doing a lot of load balancing/swapping. |

| I'm not Billy.
Onan makes the generators for most all motor homes and they are not cheep. Some of them are LP fired, and I think most all gas fired can be converted to LP. Some are seldom used.
The biggest problem with the gas fired ones is carb gum up. Some of the carbs are not rebuildable.
With all that said perhaps you could find one at a salvage yard.
LP/propane is a very good fuel for a generator.
