Had this saw for about six years, ran ok,now it will run about 20/30 seconds and cut off, acts like running out of gas.It starts easily but wont take any throttle. I installed a new carb.gas filter is clean tank vent is open, fuel line seems to be in good shape, good spark. It seems that the fuel pump in carb is not getting the vacuum impulse to pump. Any ideas?? |

| Thanks to all for time and experience,I have discovered a recall deal concerning the rubber boot that connects carb to cylinder, looks like the bean counters had more pull than the engineers,a plastic clamp that should have been metal seems to be the problem. Thanks again for you time and help, Butch |

| I would have some one check the crankcase pressure/vacuum. If the crankshaft seals start to leak they will cause the problems you are talking about. They let air into the lub system. |

| I have 2 Husky 44 saws (one was willed to me by a deceased brother & the other I have rebuilt by a friend with parts saw from ebay ).My brothers saw had just quit running so my friend found that the poor gasoline we are forced to buy , completely disentergarted the fuel filter & line inside the tank (both completely gone ). Now the 2nd saw had been running fine , but then it started doing just exactly what you say your 353 is doing . My friend finally diagnosed it at being a bad coil . Coils are big dollars . I do hope this helps . God bless, Ken |

| Check the screen/spark arrestor that it not plugged up with carbon. |

| | Don't know if this applies to your saw or not, but some has a short pigtail hose from the crankcase back to the carburetor adapter. came up out of the clutch side of the crankcase and pluged on a nipple on that side of the carb. adapter. Some of the real oldies used a rubber(y) seal about 1/2" long that went in a hole just below the carb. adapter and a nipple on the plastic adapter just mashed down into it a ways. Either type can give trouble such as get old and crack, etc. |

| I don't know a lot about the 353 but the I know the 50 special and the 350 had a small filter (screen ) in the carb. They will act the same way if they are sucking air from a leak in crankcase. |
