What is the recommended grass for a pond bank, still fescue? Too dry to seed, but it won t be long till winter. They finished late Saturday and it has almost a foot of water in it(hit two springs) |

You should probably ask your local extension office or conservation dept. They'll know what works best in your area. The last thing you want to do is plant something that's just gonna be trouble.

Here in PA the best choice would be crownvetch. Nice thick mat and never needs to be mowed

most folks here either use lovegrass or ryegrass, because it gets established easily.

For me, native grass would be a strong contender and in some cases brome. The best choose will depend on where you are located. In my area, SE Nebraska, an important thing to do where you have disturbed the dirt, is to use some zinc with other commercial fertilizer and manure.

Nettle will keep the "friends" away. If you'rte gonna be walking around it, maybe a mix like for sport fields... Shouldn't need mowed as often either.....
