Few years ago i bought an Allied 8" bench grinder at an auction and i have never used it because the tool rests were broken off of it. I have done some searching on the net but not able to find parts or who if anyone still sells the Allied products. Any idea where i can find tool rests for an Allied bench grinder model # 59501? If all else fails i will try to build some myself. Thanks in advance,Terry |

| The best tool rest you can make is a 1/2" round bar, mounted across both wheels. You don't have to have original equipment, hell, if you have a grinder, a few bits of angle iron, a drill, and some patience, you can make your own! Try googling grinder tool rest, and see some plans pop up! |

| Man if you had only posted this on Tuesday you might have had t parts you need yesterday. LOL I had an appointment up in Columbia yesterday so I could have put those dead grinders in the trunk of the car and stop in and let you look at them to see if any of the parts would have worked. Now the good news is if you can wait I will be back up there in about a month since I will/do have another appointment at the V.A. Hospital in Columbia then. I drive up hwy 63 so go right through Ashland sort of |

| I"ve seen the brand name, sold by tool sale Semi"s that come around for a day or so, and set up a tent. I suspect that it"s the same stuff that Harbor Freight sells. |

| Only difference is that the tool gypsies run away before having to honor warrantees! At least HF has a system. |

| Just take a 3 inch wide piece of flat steel and then weld a piece of one inch wide perpendicular on the one edge. Cut it to the lengths needed and drill the mounting holes. I make all of mine as the new ones are all tin and are not worth a darn. |

That is what is making it tough form me to decide on a grinder. I don't own one at all and anything under $200 has a tin tool rest. That is just about useless to me. |
