Found this today. Had a bad morning, decided the h-ll with it and went to a garage sale. I knew it was going to be a decent one when there was a 4020 for sale there. Never seen that at a garage sale before. How old do you think this is? Is it a good one? Came with a random assortment of williams, craftsman and napa sockets up to 2". $30. |

They are stronger than a 3/4 break over..that was all I used in Gas pipeline work..Boss saw us break the ratchet guts and decides to get us some break overs...the break over did not even break one nut and it broke, he looked at us and said go back to your ratchet...always kept spare parts for them

as good as you can get. 40 some yrs ago I bought an estate in western Ohio and it included a lot of Williams wrenches.got 1/4" and 3/4" sets of sockets and a lot of hand wrenches, wish I has a 1/2" set. An older mechanic was at my place some yrs ago and saw the ratchets of which I happened to have 2 - 3/4" drives. he said when he first started to work for Cat after WW2 he bought a set of Williams tools and had lost the ratchet. He wanted to buy one, I didn"t want to sell it but he insisted about buying it for some time, finally I gave it to him,a few days later he gave my son a crisp 100 bill and said it was cheap.I"m sure he has never turned a nut with it and told the son when he was gone the wrenches were his.

Best you could get at the time, half wore out it,s still better than 3/4s of the ones you can get today, got one at a fle market 5 years ago for $5.00 still working great never slips, has already lasted Me longer than a napa and S and K did.

Dad had Williams sockets/ratchets since before me. So they would be 60 plus years old now.

All that for $30, good deal. I bought the same ratchet last year at a farm sale for $20. Don't know how old guess 20-30 years.

Dunno about the ratchet but it looks nice, the sockets were worth it anyway if you got 5 or 6 or more, I'd say.
