Good evening Folks, I thought the remanufactured engine and trans swap in my 95 Suburban was coming to a close tonight. Unfortunantly, the rally continues, and this SOB is still in my shop. This is rather long I apologize in advance. Brought unit in with loose wrist pin knock and trans slipping in reverse. Put in remanufactured 5.7 and reman L460e trans. Completed all hook-ups , double checked fluids ect. When hooking up battery cable tonight to fire up, fuel pump came on and pressurized system, all gauges, and dash accessories, wiper, blower, radio became active and warning lights came on as if in normal start sequence. Too bad the key was in my pocket. Basically, when connecting the battery the entire vehicle activates like the key is in the RUN position. One by one trying each individually I isolated the ignition switch with the plug under dash, pulled all transmission cables, alternator, starter, rechecked all plugs and connections. Hooked up additional block-chassis grounds.None of these systems being isolated would stop the issue. Only thing I can figure is something in PCM is switching on the run circuits when power is applied to the system. Vechicle had no other electrical issues prior to this engine trans swap. I'm going to try the PCM a friend removed from a running 94 pickup and see what happens. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Tom B. |

| Sounds like a pinched wire, shorting a circuit to ground. Like Bob said I would look closely around the bellhousing of the trans. Good luck BW |

| Did you try turning the ignition key? Does it feel normal when it turns, do you feel the switch detents? The reason I ask is, the ignition switch control rack may have broken, which can leave the switch in the on position, but let the key turn back and be removed. |
