Bridgeport mill pricing

I am in the process of taking over a small company that has some excess equipment. One item that will get sold is an older Bridgeport mill.

It has the older step pulley drive setup and it's wired for 460V 3-phase. Overall in nice shape with no rust. Ways are nice and clean and the quill seems smooth and tight.

You guys have any idea what this would go for in today's market?

I have some large Motoman robots too that will probably be more difficult to price.

Thanks in advance for you thoughts.

If the mill does not have CNC control or at least read-out I fear it is worth its weight in scrap metal. Just no market for it.

Where are you located?

FYI....The owner of my company bought a 15 year old 2J head mill....that is the variable speed. Excellent condition with a working readout for $2,700. This is the mill I use everyday. (real nice, almost like driving a new car that only has 25,000 miles on it)

What is the serial number of the machine? The number is right over the top of the crossfeed (Y axis) crank handle. What HP of the motor?

Without seeing it I would say $1,200 to $1,800. Go on ebay and look at used bridgeports.

If motor can be rewired to 230V 3 PH someone with a home shop would like it. All they would need is a VFD or a Phase converter.

That BP mill should be worth around $1,000 USD. I bought one like that last year, with a cheap digital read out, and I paid 1,100 for it, and felt it was a good buy.
Of course, prices vary a lot by location, so yours may be worth more or less. One thing to remember is: Those BPorts are always going to be woth something, even just to use as a drill press..

you will find similar mills on ebay for $2500 with no tooling which is crazy to me. I think I would go 1000-1200 with no tooling, condition plays a part however.

At the rate these are being shipped the China, if you can sit on it a few more years it should double in value. We can't ship every mill job to China to be done. Old fashioned family owned machine shops are getting few and far between. I looked at a nice BP last fall, the ways were tight as well as the spindle the original paint even looked good and a high quality DRO of whick I can't remember the name. The guy that had it wouldn't budge from $5,500. Tad high for me so I passed. He sold it 2 days later. I've looked at several other BP's and a couple Cincinattie mills in the $750-$1,200 Range that were absolute scrap. So you just need to evaluate what you have and average out what you've learned here and be open to offers.

I got my '51 9x42 step-pulley several years ago for $1500, it's nice 'n tight, still has the original 3-ph motor, just hooked it up to a static phase converter (as I did with my 16x60 South Bend lathe)
Used it 3 times in the last 2 weeks, and the big lathe twice- haven't used the little Logan lathe in about a month
