Someone signed me up for an online weight control program and got the phone company to add $14 to my phone bill. How can they allow this to happen? Don't they have a way to match up a persons name with the computer he is using?

Call your phone company and tell them what is going on and dispute the charge. Once you get it settled see if they have a way to set up your account where nothing can be changed or added by a third party without your written consent. I had to have mine done that way years ago after having my LD carrier changed without my authorization along with some other hiky stuff that they had allowed to go on that I didn't catch. Wound up getting nearly $600 refunded when they got it all straightened out but it took staying on them and hounding them til they got it done.

"someone signed me up for a weight controll program"...ROFLMAO..are you sure it wasn't your wife???? Just joking with ya!
I had charges on my phone bill for some pornography site, I called explained the situation, the girl suggested I may have "accidentally" been on a site..I told her to check my phone bills for the last part of my life from birth until right frigging now and see if I ever had a charge for this...she said "I will take care of it for you sir."

You do not have to pay the bill, complain to the phone company and tell them to remove the charge. THEY CAN NOT TURN YOUR PHONE OFF by law on a third party charge.

The company could probably do a whole lot more to prevent or regulate improper charges but don't do it because customer service and integrity are not very high on the priority list. If on average, 50% of the people pay the bill without reading it then they can slip all kinds of dubious charges in. Wal-mart has it down to a science, overcharge everyone anywhere from a nickel to a dollar depending on how many items they have -- most people are not going to go over the register tape item by item right there at the counter or stay around to argue over a quarter and Wal-mart knows that.

I dunno General. Seems some just hat e Wally World. It is no different than hating the chain grocery stores that put the locals out of business. Or the big box hardware stores, or chain drug stores, Motel chains, GM, Ford, etc that put a lot of other car makers our of business.

But we don't seem to hear much about them.

Are we supposed to hate Case for putting Farmall out of business? New Holland For ford? JD bought out other companies as well.
