Got a 1971 McCulloch model 7-10A chainsaw.
The chain oiler won't work with the engine running.
Shut it off and set it somewhere and oil just pours out.
Where do I start on this problem?
Thanks, Pooh Bear

| in a rare case I saw in a Stihl, the drum sprocket cracked from the center outward & across the top of the drum. this let a tiny single "tooth" stick out on the inside when it sprung a little. This "tooth" cut the oil hose & it would not oil when running but poured out oil when you set it down. |

| | Fuel hose fell apart on my older chain saws. I'd expect as much from the oil hoses. Gerald J. |

| I can get parts for it. I want to fix this myself.
I just need to know what to look for when I tear it down.

| i had a mcculloch, i think it was an eager beaver, something like that, 16" bar. oiler quit. it was the oil pump that drives off the crankshaft, had a nylon worm type gear that all the teeth got chewed off. if i remember it was under the flywheel side of the motor. took a while to get to it, dang near the whole saw had to come apart to get in there. |
