Briggs Stratton pressure washer unloader valve

I have a model 01937 2800 psi pressure washer and the unloader valve is stuck. Engine load doesn't change with the trigger either on or off. I am checking the price of the replacement kit and I am in shock that it's over $100.00.

I tried to clean the vavle up a bit which was corroded but it's still sticking and I can't bring myself to fork over $100.00 for this part. I feel like I am getting ripped off and am thinking that maybe a better grade pump may be the way to go.

Anybody got any tricks to clean up one of these valves? The P/N is 190661GS

Thanks in advance

I have one on a b/s sears brand 2800psi. It has worked very well for 2 or 3 years. The other day the unloader stuck and had a load on the motor all the time. Couple weeks later now it will unload but do not have near the pressure that it used to have. I haven't taken it apart yet. If you find a inexpensive alternative , let us know.

I found that the p/n has changed on the unloader and the new one is about $80.00. Still seems like an pretty high price for a couple of brass screw machine parts and a spring. I am going to just keep on trying to clean it for now. It seems to come and go a bit but this is clearly a design flaw on this AR pump. There are lots of complaints about these if you search the 'net.
