Dalet 02-02-2013 15:59:31 184.94.141.146 Report to Moderator	I have a VH4d that was on a swather, but it locked up. I am sure it needs a full rebuild. I would like to know if there is someone that could fix this engine for me that knows what they are doing with these engines. I want to put the engine on a wood splitter. [Reply]   [No Email]

If its a later model with insert con rod bearings..they may have them. Wisconsin Motors is still in business, still making engines, most parts are still available. there's about one distributor per state, prices, however, are like parts are gold plated. Bob 02-04-2013 20:01:18 64.255.159.192 Report to Moderator	Re: Anyone in MN rebuild Wisconsin Engines? in reply to Dalet, 02-02-2013 15:59:31   Sadly, if it needs a "full rebuild", you will be far better off dollar-wise to send it to the "land of almost right" to be returned as trivets at Waldo-World and replace it with a new Kohler, Briggs or Honda V-twin OHV engine. They all have units in the 20 to 30 HP range, which should be MORE than adequate for a log splitter. Once you price $$$ parts and figure in labor, you will realize that I am being serious. Keep clean oil in the Wisconsin, clean oil in the air cleaner, and keep the mice nests out of the shrouding around the cylinders and those Wisconsin's will outlast the imports. A lot of people are into cheap today and don't mind buying the same thing twice or three times and still having junk. [Reply]  [No Email]

Seems the guy I bought it from did not like to keep oil in the engine or clean the schaff from around the cylinders. Was the most neglected engine I have ever seen. This engine has a broken crankshaft. I bought it for the starter,generator,flywheel, and air filter. I just put together a VH4, Can't remember exactly what it cost, Four pistons and rings and a set of rod bearings, $500.00. Valve job on the cylinders $100.00. Gasket set don't remember. If you can find a VE or a VF crank start you can modernize it with parts from your VH. Just a suggestion. [Reply]  [No Email]

I would be interested in getting it rebuilt. I don't think it needs a ton of work, but it has been altered a few times over the years. Like it to be back to original ... if that's possible. greygoat 02-03-2013 13:51:57 98.125.122.131 Report to Moderator	Re: Anyone in MN rebuild Wisconsin Engines? in reply to Dalet, 02-02-2013 15:59:31   I'm in Wisconsin, but too sick to do them anymore,(doped up on Hydrocodone, and timed release nitro as I type this) We've got a 2 cylinder Wisconsin on a woodsplitter with a single stage Vickers vane pump, 5 inch cylinder, with a 3-1/2 diameter piston rod. It has a 35 GPM rated directional valve with 3/4 ID hoses, so as to not restrict flow.. It's not as fast as i'd like, but pressure and flow are optimal for a 14 horse at 2400 RPM engine. I'd think about a 22GPM 2 stage pump sometime. [Reply]  [No Email]
