First post here and desperate... Spent all afternoon searching for 2 pistons and ring sets for an ingersoll-rand gyro-flow 85 air compressor. Vintage 1969. The motor is a Continental F163 4236. 4 cyl. I have the motor pulled apart now and I would love to get it back together but now I am wondering if I can find the parts anywhere. Inside one of the pistons are the numbers F 245-A (and) 4 01 (and) 6. I found the piston numbers F163A0043 in an online repair manual but nothing comes up on my Safari search for a place that sells them - I think it would be best to use the numbers inside the piston mentioned above. I bought this compressor to sandblast a steel boat I am restoring to sail around the globe - years from now. Not wealthy here... just determined. See my blog if interested. Please help me with the pistons! I have heard that many tractors and other machinery used these motors. Maybe Perkins 4236 is the same thing? http://voyageoffshore.blogspot.com/ Thanks! Jay |

| | Thanks to the first person to respond to my questions, my search may be over. He has pointed me to Silvolite for new pistons. All the numbers seem to match up, which I continue to think is just astounding. Especially on a motor from the 60's. Some of the suppliers I called were nasty and so negative - I'm sure in part because I am not fluent in the language of machine work. This forum is amazing and I thank you for allowing me to participate in it! Jay |
