Does anyone know if the last gas 1 1/2 M"s were painted black? I am working on two, one from 1931 and the other from 1932 (the last two years of production), that have the AC automotive diaphragm style fuel pump. As I am cleaning off the engine parts I note that they are painted black under the grease and dirt. Doesn"t seem as though this is a re-paint since I see no green paint at all as I strip the old stuff off.
